Tunisian mint tea
It's exactly what you think it is
Morocco thinks they got this shit on lockdown. Though admittedly it is very similar. You'll know it's Tunisian though if you find pine nuts in it. Tunisian tea is also seemingly stronger.
I'm no expert in Moroccan tea so I won't bullshit you about that. This is an all purpose "Maghrebi mint tea". Tunisians, Moroccans, Algerians... we're all drinking this shit in some form or another haha.
Mint tea Ingredients
-
2 cups of water
-
2 1/2 tbs of gunpowder green tea (rolled) - or black tea
-
A generous handful of mint leaves
-
1/3 cup sugar (you need lots of sugar)
Method
Rinse your tea leaves and bring your water to a boil. Once it's boiling add your tea leaves and mint leaves. Let it it simmer for at least 5 minutes.
Add your sugar and dissolve.
Strain into cups and garnish with pine nuts and fresh mint leaves if you like. This makes about 3 small cups so just keep doubling up until you reach your desired quantity.
Notes:
You can make this as strong or as weak as you'd like. Or even as sweet as you like. Though I do recommend making it sweet. Whenever people have this, they ask me what makes it so good, and I say SUGAR.
I like this best with green tea and it MUST be rolled tea leaves. You can't get weak shitty green tea bags, it's not the same. Might take a little searching to find quality tea but it's worth it.
